ABOUT THE BOOK

To retain my sanity and sense of purpose on this cruise, I needed to keep a blog to record our journey and our preparations for it. That is where we pick up the story in July 2022, when there are still 210 days to go before the embarkation date, and when I am literally having nightmares about how to endure the journey. The text that follows is the selected version of the blog I have kept going throughout that whole period. It includes a considerable amount of detail before the cruise to show our mental and physical preparation for this adventure, as well as a regular day to day description of life on the ship and on the excursions at the 27 ports that we visited, either together or alone. We crossed 5 continents and 3 oceans in search of the route of Jules Verne’s hero Phileas Fogg.
